Understanding Overstay Fines in the UAE

Updated: Aug 7

Overstaying your visa can have serious consequences. The fines can accumulate quickly. If you remain in the UAE after your visa (visit, tourist, or residence) has expired, you’ll be charged daily fines:

  • Tourist/Visit Visa: AED 50 per day

  • Residence Visa: AED 50 per day after the 30-day grace period

Who Can Apply for Overstay Fine Reduction?

You can request a fine reduction if:

  • Your overstay fine is above AED 4,000

  • You have a valid reason for overstaying (medical issue, legal case, passport hold, job loss, etc.)

  • You provide all supporting documents

Fine reductions are handled on a case-by-case basis by GDRFA or ICP (Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship).
